I first thought seriously about photography when I started exploring old buildings and structures and wanted to document the places and the finds I made inside. I started out with a small point and shoot digital camera, a far cry from the digital and film systems I use today.
It was the dark, difficult conditions I found within the derelict shells of industry and hospitals that pressed me to learn more about photography so that I could accurately capture what I saw and use the conditions to my advantage.
In recent years I've worked more in mainland Europe and in particular in Germany. The Cold War is a recurring subject and theme in my work as it is a period of time which holds my interest like no other.
